Chairs of the Month - February
by your reporter on the beat
What a Heritage Festival this year, and it was nice to see all the parents at Parent Involvement Day! I caught up to Gail and Kristin, Heritage Festival co-coordinators, and
Kelly and Tracy of the Hospitality Committee who provided the Parent Involvement Day breakfast. I asked them a couple of questions.
What is it that you like about Heritage Festival?
Gail: I like how much all the families come out to share something very personal about themselves. I've gotten to meet so many really wonderful families that I never would have otherwise.
Kristin: One of my favorite things about Bach is its cultural diversity, and Heritage Festival is a great way for the students (and parents!) to learn about other cultures.
What is it that you like about the Hospitality Committee?
Traci: I really enjoy meeting new parents and families.
Kelly: I always enjoy throwing a party!
Why do you like to volunteer with the PTO?
Gail: Bach's a remarkable school that has done so much for our family. I am so grateful for the extraordinary teachers and staff.
Kristin: Working with the families was fun because they were so enthusiastic, and I like the benefits to the Bach community.
Kelly: It gives a sense of being part of a community.
Our thanks to Gail, Kristin, Kelly, and Traci for two spectacular events this month!

Box Top/Soup Label Reminder
A quick reminder to turn in your Box Tops and Soup Labels this week by sending them to school in your child's backpack.
A special thanks to Erika Asbury-Montagno for bundling these and turning them in!
The PTO appreciates all the families and staff who participate with Bach's "no cost" Box Top and Soup Label fundraisers!
PTO funds African Drumming
All classrooms were invited to the Bach Multi-purpose room last Friday to take part in the African Drumming presentation featuring musicians and dancers from Ghana, Niger, and Japan.
Students were shown Ghanian-style drums, xylophones and moroccas and given a description of how they were made. The kids were treated to several musical numbers, received a demonstration of how drums were traditionally used to communicate between villages, and invited to participate in traditional African dancing. This group
really got the kids excited!
A special thanks to Kristi Bishop, Bach's Music teacher for arranging this presentation.
