Chairs of the Month - December
by your reporter on the beat
At Bach the PTO puts on more than ten family events every year, and this month's Movie Night was so much fun. I caught up to Tricia and Heather, Move Night co-coordinators, and asked them a couple of questions.
What is it that you like about Movie Night?
Tricia: It is so much fun for the kids.
Heather: It is a great community building event.
Why do you like to volunteer with the PTO?
Tricia: It benefits every kids in the school when parents are involved.
Heather: It is a wonderful opportunity to be involved with the kids and get to know their friends.
Tricia is the mother of Nathan in 2nd grade, Ben in Kindergarten, Eric at Pioneer High, and Mark, a preschooler.
Heather is the mother of Emma in 2nd grade, Madeline in Kindergarten, and Ethan, a preschooler.
Thanks again for Tricia and Heather for a successful Movie Night!
The Super wants to hear from you
The AAPS Superintendent, Dr. Todd Roberts, and his Deputy, Mr. Robert Allen, came to speak at Bach about the Ann Arbor Schools budget situation, and received lots of good questions. They encourage everyone at Bach to continue to help shape budget priorities.
From the office of the Superintendent:
Please attend one of the Ann Arbor Public School Budget Forums in January. We need input from parents and the community as the district looks to make approximately $20 million in reductions for the 2010/2011 school year.
The forums will present current budget information and a proposed plan with options. Participants will be asked to work in small groups to assess the proposed plan and options and to give their individual assessment as well. Suggestions will be welcome.
All forums are scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
January 7 - Huron High School Cafeteria
January 12 - Skyline High School Commons
January 14 - Scarlett Middle School Cafeteria
January 19 - Pioneer High School Cafeteria
Budget information will be posted on the AAPS website during the week of December 14th. Look for the "District Budget" box on the right margin of the website.

Holiday Gift Cards a Success
Congratulations to the Bach Community for over $13,000 in Holiday Gift Card Scrip sales netting the Bach PTO more than $1,000 this month.
A special thanks to Suzanne Kessler, Amy Moore, and Ann and Ryan Verhey-Henke of the Scrip committee for handling ordering and deliveries, Wendy Valtadoros for handling the checks, and to Julie Roberts for her graphic design expertise!
The PTO appreciates all the families and staff who participate with Bach's "no cost" Scrip fundraisers!
PTO funds UM Art Museum Trip
First through Fifth graders went to the University of Michigan Art Museum this month to see the Impressionism Exhibit. Kindergartners will visit the Museum in April. The PTO, along with the Kiwanis Club, funded busses for most grades, and Museum admission is free. Ask your child how they enjoyed the Museum!
A special thanks to Ms. Linda Babich, Bach's Art teacher for planning and reserving docents and busses to make this trip possible.
